Is Elif Ba free?
Yes. Elif Ba is free and always will be: no subscription, no payments and no account to create.
Do I need to know Arabic to start?
No. The lessons start with the letters of the Arabic alphabet and build up step by step: letter forms, vowels, sukun, shaddah, elongation and tanween, until you can read words from the Quran.
How do I learn to read the Quran with Elif Ba?
Follow the chapters in order. Every card has a recording: listen, repeat and move on. Exercises with real words, quizzes and games help you practise what you have learned.
Can I hear how every letter and word is pronounced?
Yes. Every letter, syllable and word in the lessons has a recording. You can change the speed, repeat a card and let the player move on to the next card by itself.
In which languages is Elif Ba available?
In 12 languages: Turkish, English, Dutch, French, German, Spanish, Indonesian, Italian, Bosnian, Norwegian, Swedish and Danish.
Is there an Elif Ba app?
Yes. Elif Ba is also an app for iPhone and Android, with the same lessons. Download it for free from the App Store or Google Play.
Do I need an account?
No. You can start right away. Your settings are only saved in your own browser.
Can I learn tajweed with Elif Ba too?
Yes. After Elif Ba, Tajweed teaches you to read the Quran with tajweed, step by step: ghunnah, qalqalah, Râ and Lafzatullah, silent nûn and tanween, silent mîm, madd and letters that merge. In every lesson you listen, look at the marked letters, understand the rule, then try and apply it. Tajweed is free too, in Turkish and English.
